The Acton Santa Claus Parade starts at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The jolly old man in red is gearing up for a busy day in Halton Hills, with two Santa Claus parades set to take place on Saturday.

The Acton Santa Claus Parade will kick off at 1 p.m. on Nov. 18 following the traditional route that starts near Tim Hortons on Queen Street, proceeds west toward Main Street, then north to Knox Church.

This year’s theme is a ‘Classic Christmas Movie.’

The event is organized by volunteers of the Acton Firefighters Association, who will be accepting new, unwrapped toys in support of its local toy drive. Letters to Santa will also be collected during the parade.

Donations from local businesses and residents help support the traditional event, with e-transfers being accepted at [email protected] (password Santa2023).

As always, the Roxy Centre in downtown Acton will be offering free photos with Santa before the parade from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The 93rd annual Georgetown Lions Santa Claus Parade will then get underway at 5 p.m. on Nov. 18.

The parade will travel on a four-kilometre route along Guelph to Mill Street, then Charles Street to the Georgetown Fairgrounds.

This year’s theme is ‘Christmas Past and Present.’

The Lions Club is accepting donations for the Georgetown Bread Basket and Food4Kids.

The local service club  launched its first parade in 1932 and has continued to run and organize the event annually, with the help of corporate and private sponsors, and many volunteers.
