Acton District School's holiday craft sale is one of several being held around Halton Hills in the coming weeks.

The students at Acton District School are reviving a tradition that hasn’t been held for more than a decade.

Students in the school’s DECA club, which promotes business education and entrepreneurship, will be holding a holiday craft sale on Saturday, Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The sale was an annual event at the school until 12 years ago.

“There are a lot of people that have great memories of the sale, so the students decided to bring back that tradition,” said the student’s staff advisor Virginia Houston.

The sale will have 60 vendors as well as booths for many other student organizations. The Young Entrepreneurs will have a booth, the Bearcats Recycle Rack will be selling clothes, the school library will be selling old books and using the proceeds to buy new books and the food classes will be selling potted herbs. The photography club will be taking pictures with Santa from noon to 2 p.m.

“They’ve found a way to incorporate so many different student groups,” Houston said. “The school motto changed to Building Community Together, and this really fits with that.”

The students will present their plan and execution of the show as well as their findings at the provincial DECA competition in February.
