Volunteers thanked by Town at appreciation event

While they certainly don't volunteer for recognition, those who give back were celebrated last night in Georgetown

They work hard and ask nothing in return. All they want is to see their neighbours’ lives improve.

Yet the Town of Halton Hills did give something back to them by recognizing their hard work at a June 16 appreciation event in Georgetown's Dominion Gardens Park. From healthcare volunteers, to caretakers of green spaces to sports volunteers, everyone was recognized.

Many volunteers braved the heat, got some ice cream, played games and took in the cool vibes of Standard Time, a local jazz band.

“Recognizing our volunteers is particularly important given the hardships that people have had to endure through the past two years of the pandemic,” Mayor Rick Bonnette said in a statement. “I am pleased we can gather for this wonderful celebration.”
