Georgetown Raiders' losing streak hits seven games after loss to Patriots

Raiders also drop weekend games to Buffalo, Collingwood

Aiden Lee scored twice for Georgetown Saturday, but Buffalo scored late to earn a 5-3 win in the Ontario Junior Hockey League game.

The Toronto Patriots scored five unanswered goals to hand Georgetown a 6-1 loss Monday, extending the Raiders’ losing streak to seven games.

The Raiders trailed 2-1 late in the second period of Monday’s Ontario Junior Hockey League game when Toronto struck for two goals in 39 seconds. Toronto would add two more 70 seconds apart in the opening minutes of the third.

Braydon Hobson had the lone Georgetown goal.

Aiden Lee scored twice for the Raiders but the Buffalo Jr. Sabres broke a 3-3 tie with 4:16 to play on their way to a 5-3 win over the Georgetown Saturday. 

Lee had given the Raiders a 2-1 lead, but a pair of third period goals put Buffalo in front. Lee tied the game with his second of the night with 5:08 remaining in the third period, but it would take just 52 seconds for the Sabres to regain the lead. Buffalo added another into an empty net to seal the win.

James Wong had the other Raiders goal.

Georgetown dropped a 7-4 decision to Collingwood Friday. Nolan Keeler scored for the fourth straight game and Justin Huynh had a goal and two assists. Lee and John Mitchell also scored for Georgetown. 

The Raiders outshot Pickering 55-38 last Tuesday but managed only a lone goal by Keeler in a 2-1 loss to the Panthers. Georgetown goalie Cameron Ingram stopped 36 of 38 shots.

The Raiders sit in ninth place in the West Conference with a record of 18-26-6.

Georgetown hosts the Stouffville Spirit Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at the Mold-Masters SportsPlex and then plays in Milton Sunday at 6 p.m.
