The Georgetown Raiders scored three times in seven minutes on their way a to a 6-3 victory over the King Rebellion in Saturday’s Ontario Junior Hockey League game.
James Wong scored twice and Owen Bruining set up three goals in the Raiders’ win, which came on the heels of Friday’s 4-3 overtime win over Lindsay.
The Raiders fell behind after surrendering an early shorthanded goal, but Joel Apthorp, Wong and Jayden Levesque answered back.
King pulled within one late in the first, but second period goals by John Mitchell and Jack Gallo put the Raiders up comfortably 5-2.
The Rebellion got one back before Wong put the game away, scoring his second of the game into an empty net.
Owen McNamara had two assists and Michael Newlove made 36 saves for the win.
Friday night in Lindsay, Georgetown rallied from a 2-0 deficit to edge the Muskies on Nolan Keeler’s goal. It was the Raiders’ first win in six overtime games this season, bringing an 0-3-2 mark into the game.
Down 2-0 midway through the game, defenceman Justin Fernandes cut the lead in half. Jack Gallo then scored a pair of goals 2:45 apart to give the Raiders their lead. After Lindsay tied the game to force overtime, Keeler scored eight minutes into the extra period.
Levesque picked up his second assist on the overtime winner and Newlove made 36 saves, posting his eighth straight game with three or fewer goals against.
The Raiders, at 9-7-5, sit in seventh place in the OJHL’s West Conference. Georgetown will have a chance to move up in the standings with six of its next seven games at home, beginning with Wednesday’s game against the Toronto Patriots at 7:30 p.m. The Raiders then face Caledon Saturday at 5:30 p.m. Both games are at the Mold-Masters SportsPlex.
