Michael Newlove posted his second straight shutout as the Georgetown Raiders edged the Oakville Blades 1-0 Wednesday.
Newlove made 23 saves to post his third shutout of the Ontario Junior Hockey League season and has now gone 120 minutes without allowing a goal.
The 17-year-old netminder has won eight of his last nine starts and is 11-6-4 on the season with 2.46 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage.
John Mitchell scored the only goal of the game just 4:26 into the opening period and Newlove made that stand up for the win.
It was the Raiders’ sixth straight win at home, a streak Georgetown will look to extend against the second-place Collingwood Blues on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at the Mold-Masters SportsPlex.
Georgetown now sits sixth in the OJHL’s West Conference with a record of 14-8-5.
The Raiders auctioned off their pink sweaters following the game to raise money for Cancer Assistance Halton Hills.
