Canada's largest railway has locked out its employees and halted all trains after Canadian National and its workers couldn't agree on a new contract before a 12:01 a.m. deadline.

Canadian Pacific Kansas City had been expected to make the same move, in what would mark the first-ever simultaneous work stoppage at both companies.

More coming.
