It is with a heavy heart that the family of Beverley Ann Furino announces her passing at the age of 82 on Monday, August 26th after a long, brave battle with cancer.

Beverley was predeceased by her husband, Orlando, who passed away in 2011 after 47 years of marriage.

Beverley is remembered by her two loving daughters, Lana (Drew) and Anita (Kevin), and her 3 grandchildren, Aidan, Eric, and Erin. We also want to acknowledge the comfort that Beverley felt surrounded by Maryjo and Jim Simms, Pauline Bordage Watkinson, and Barb Ramm. Your endless love and kindness brought her many smiles. Mom was also recently reunited with Mark and Sarah which brought her much peace at the end of her life.

Born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia remained Bev's home in her heart, and she shared the love of ‘down home’ with her daughters and husband, creating memorable vacations over the years. Her move to Toronto was difficult, however, once she met the love of her life, Orlando, her world became complete, and they settled down to raise their family.

Mom was incredibly artistic, her talent ranged from musical to crafty, filling her life with joy. From playing the bagpipes at the White House to decorating elaborate wedding cakes for friends and family, to sewing and knitting wonderful pieces, Mom was never still for very long. Our home was always filled with great food, music, dance, and stories.

Another joy mom passed on to her daughters was her love of animals which began with her first dog Rover. Over the years our family enjoyed the company of dogs, birds, fish, and many cats. Caper, her most recent cat was named in honour of her love of Cape Breton, and like most Maritimers, the cat was loving, entertaining, and loyal.

In accordance with the family’s wishes, there will be a celebration of life with details to follow.

A very special thank you goes out to the staff at The Dorothy Ley Hospice who cared for Mom in her final days. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Mom's memory to the Dorothy Ley Hospice in Etobicoke. ❤
