28 MAY, 1923 – 19 SEPTEMBER, 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Oma and Great Oma Katharina (Kathe) Heptner on September 19, 2023 in her 101st year.
Kathe was a strong, feisty woman as anyone who knew her could testify. She lived a good but hard life. At the age of 15 her mother sent her from her home in Weilau, Romania to live in Germany as a nanny/housekeeper to escape the eventual invasion of Romania by the Russians. Even though it was a successful move, she still endured the wrath of the war in too many ways to mention. In 1954 she moved to Kitchener until her marriage to, Erich Heptner in 1956 and moved to Acton.
They had 2 daughters Erika (Stephen) Madill [The late Rob McMillan 2009] and Monika (Mario) DelRizzo. Beloved Oma to Bryan McMillan, Shannon Skelton (Chris) and Laura DelRizzo. Great Oma to Evan and Elise McMillan. She was predeceased by her husband Erich (2017), her father Janos Lindert, her mother Katalin Lindert and her brothers Johann and George and her sister Katharina who died as an infant and for whom she was named after.
A special thanks to the staff at St. Joseph’s Health Care Centre in Guelph for her great care especially in the last 5 years when her memory was taken by Dementia. She was a feisty warrior till the end. No one could mess with Kathe or else.
At her request there will be no funeral or celebration of life. There will be a private, family celebration of life at a later.
Arrangements entrusted to MacKinnon Family Funeral Home
