It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of John Charles Laurie on August 15, 2024, at the age of 79. Beloved husband of Elizabeth (nee McCann) for 57 wonderful years, John was the cherished father of Ted (Julie), Todd (Jacqueline), and Lisa Lock (Dan). He was a devoted grandfather to Sarah, Adam, Alison, Megan, Nicole, Owen, and Jemma, with each of whom he shared a special bond. John was a brother to Brenda (Peter), Tim (Jeanie), and Jim, and a brother-in-law to Brian (Lois), Diane (the late Tom), and Fred. His many nieces and nephews will fondly remember him. Predeceased by his parents James and Elizabeth Laurie, and his in-laws Frederick and Elizabeth McCann. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.

John met and married his high school sweetheart, Liz, in Montreal (Verdun), and together they built a life filled with love and adventure. John and Liz spent 24 years in Mississauga where John enjoyed playing squash and coaching sports, as well as going to theatre with friends. Retirement brought them to Morningside, New Hamburg, where they lived for 23 years. John was a vibrant presence in the community, involved in activities like darts, shuffleboard, bocce, pickleball, and pub nights. Silent Valley Trailer Park near Mount Forest was a big part of their adventure years, where they met many of their lifelong friends. He was the driving force behind car rallies and enjoyed card games, always ensuring that everyone around him was entertained and engaged. John and Liz also shared a passion for travel, enjoying trips to Myrtle Beach, Florida, Australia, and Europe. His enthusiasm for life and his love for his family and friends were evident in everything he did.

In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to the Georgetown Hospital Foundation (www.supportghf.ca) or PSP Society (www.pspsocietycanada.ca), charities close to his family’s hearts.

A special thank you to the PSW's and community at Amica Georgetown for their love and support.

John will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, laughter, and community will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
