Despite a one-month extension of the construction schedule, Halton Regional Police’s new 1 District building in Hornby remains on schedule and on budget.
Though the construction schedule has been extended by 28 days, the new station that will serve both Halton Hills and Milton is still expected to be completed and operational in the first quarter of 2026.
An update provided to the Halton Police Board at its Thursday (Dec. 19) meeting said the additional four weeks were necessary “due to abnormally adverse weather and modifying the locker room layout.”
Norlon Builders broke ground on the project in May. The structural steel columns and beams will be complete this month and the concrete main floor has also been poured. In the basement of the 60,000 square-foot facility, all under floor piping has been completed and the rough-in of mechanical and electrical service has started.
Over the next three months, the scheduled work includes the installation of the roof and framing the exterior walls, coordinating the connection of water, gas and sewer services, installation of basement and main floor interior masonry and metal stud framed walls, continuing the rough-ins of mechanical and electrical services and starting the exterior metal siding and masonry.
The new station, located next to Hornby Park, will replace the existing stations on Childs Drive in Milton and Guelph Street in Georgetown.
