The sky above Acton will soon be lit up by the annual Canada Day fireworks show.

The event put on by the Acton Firefighters' Association will take place Monday, with fireworks starting between 9:45 and 10:15 p.m. over Fairy Lake.

“We’re looking forward to giving back to the community and having a tradition to carry on,” said fireworks committee chair Rob Vallance.

“The businesses in town have been great in supporting us every year, as well as the people attending the show, helping us continue events like this."

The local firefighter encourages people to show up early as the show usually attracts large crowds.

Acton firefighters and members of the Downtown Acton BIA will be greeting people at the Prospect Park entrance, handing out Canada Day swag.

Admission is free, but firefighters will be collecting cash donations, which help them put on the show every year. They will be stationed at Prospect Park, St. Joseph's School, the Acton Legion and Rotary Park.

Parking will be available in Prospect Park for $20 per vehicle, cash only, with the fee also going toward the cost of putting on the show.

More parking is available at St. Joseph’s School and the Acton Legion, with limited on-street parking where permitted.
