Road construction is set to begin in Acton's downtown core.

Work is scheduled to get underway on Mill Street between Main Street and Eastern Avenue today.

The Town of Halton Hills will be making repairs to the storm sewers and resurfacing the street. The work is expected to be completed by the end of November.

Due to the construction, the Town is closing Mill Street to truck traffic. During the initial part of the work on Mill Street, trucks will be directed onto Wallace Street and over to Main Street North (Regional Road 25).

Mill Street will remain open to local traffic with lane restrictions. The Town says traffic control measures will be in place to allow for the safe movement of vehicles, with efforts made to minimize delays as much as possible.

Closures will be in place for side streets (John, Elgin, Frederick, Wilbur, Fellows, Bower and Eastern) entering onto Mill Street while work is occurring on that side of the street.
