Halton Learning Foundation is asking for the community's help to provide students with back-to-school supplies.

Many area youth have started the school year with the proper tools to succeed thanks to the community’s generosity.

But more help is needed.

The Halton Learning Foundation is halfway toward its goal of providing essential supplies to at least 300 Halton District School Board students by Sept. 30.

“While we’re thrilled to have reached 50 per cent of our goal, there are still many students who need our help,” said HLF CEO Marc Clare, who noted his organization is receiving an average of 15 requests a day from families for emergency support from HDSB – that number not usually being seen until November.

“We are asking for a final push from the community to ensure that every student starts the year with the confidence and supplies they need to succeed.”

Donations can be made at goback2school.ca.

A donation of $50 can help provide new clothes or school supplies for a student in need, while your impact can be doubled by starting a monthly donation that will be matched by belairdirect for up to a year’s total of $15,000.

Businesses and individuals can serve as ‘Back to School Champions’ by organizing fundraisers or sharing the campaign on their social media platforms.
