Residents in Halton Hills and nearby communities may have experienced disruptions to their Cogeco services today (Aug. 22), following an act of vandalism targeting the company’s fibre optic cables.

In a statement released via X (formerly Twitter), Cogeco informed customers in Acton, Burlington, Elora, Fergus, Georgetown, Milton and Oakville that they might experience a complete loss of services or partial service disruptions, such as the unavailability of certain TV channels.

Shortly after 2 p.m., the company provided an update saying that the majority of impacted customers should now have their services restored.

For those still experiencing outages, Cogeco said that service restoration will continue progressively throughout the late afternoon.
