A corn roast, line dancing, craft beverage festival and Halton Hills Concert Band show are among the events happening in town this weekend

There will be plenty of games to enjoy at the Head for the Hills Craft Beverage Festival in Georgetown Saturday.

THURSDAY

Open Mic Night/Jam Session

Sept. 12 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Acton branch: Everyone is welcome to come out and jam or simply listen and enjoy. No fees or membership required.

FRIDAY

Line Dancing

Sept. 13 starting at 7 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Acton branch: Learn how to line dance with the Urban Cowboy at the local Legion from 7 to 9 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.), followed by open line dancing from 9 p.m. to midnight. Tickets cost $15 and are available at the door.

SATURDAY

Acton Trunk Sale

Sept. 14 from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Acton GO station parking lot: The Rotary Club of Acton’s popular trunk sale is on every Saturday. Shop for a variety of products or become a vendor for $20 cash - no reservations required. Simply show up anytime after 7 a.m.

Georgetown Farmers’ Market

Sept. 14 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in downtown Georgetown: Shop every Saturday morning from a mix of vendors that offer farm produce, culturally diverse food and products, hand-crafted jewelry, soaps, candles and more.

Free Kids' Clothing Shop

Sept. 14 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Roxy Centre, 6 Mill St. E., Acton: The community space in the downtown core is hosting a free children's clothing shop. Fall and winter apparel in sizes that range from newborn to adult medium will be available at no cost.

Learn, Play, Grow

Sept. 14 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Halton Hills Public Library, Georgetown and Acton branches: Drop in at your nearest library branch for engaging, interactive activities that children up to age five and their families can enjoy at their own pace. These sessions explore various themes designed to foster positive child development.

Head for the Hills

Sept. 14 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Trafalgar Sports Park: Georgetown’s Head For The Hills is back this Saturday and is bringing dozens of drinks to Trafalgar Sports Park.

Now re-branded as a Craft Beverage Festival, the popular Georgetown fundraiser traditionally focused on craft beer is now expanding its lineup to include seltzers, wines and gins. There will also be live music, food trucks and games.

Limehouse Corn Roast and Barbecue

Sept. 14 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Limehouse Memorial Hall: Indulge in tasty barbecue fare and locally-grown corn while enjoying live musical entertainment from Unless featuring Sheri Tenaglia and Peter Perko. Funds raised will support the local historic community hall.

SUNDAY

Terry Fox Run

Sept. 15 in Acton and Georgetown: Registration for the annual event will start at 7:30 a.m. at the Acton District School track, with festivities starting at 8 a.m.

Meanwhile, the Georgetown version of the run will get underway at 9:30 a.m. at the Georgetown Fairgrounds.

Hope in Every Step

Sept. 15 at 3 p.m. in Georgetown: Join forces with other local residents to help end domestic violence and support Halton Women’s Place.

The walk will start at Georgetown Chevrolet Buick GMC at 33 Mountainview Rd. N. and proceed down Guelph Street to Floor Diva. Check-in starts at 2 p.m. and the walk kicks off at 3.p.m. Participants are asked to wear purple to show their support.

There will be guest speakers at the event who will be talking about the effect domestic violence has on families.

Music in the Garden

Sept. 15 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Old Seed House Garden gazebo, Dominion Gardens Park, Georgetown: The Friends of the Old Seed House Garden present their latest installment of Music in the Garden, with a performance by the Halton Hills Concert Band. Bring your own lawn chair.
