The Georgetown Raiders lost back-to-back games for the first in almost two months.
The Raiders, winners of seven of their last eight games, dropped a 5-2 decision to Collingwood Saturday. That ended the Raiders’ six-game winning streak at home. That was followed by a 5-1 loss in Wellington Sunday, marking the first time the Raiders lost consecutive games since Oct. 3.
Saturday, Georgetown native Noah Tegelaar continued his outstanding season with Collingwood, making 31 saves as the Blues ran their unbeaten streak to six games. Raider goalie Michael Newlove was also sharp, stopping 31 of 34 shots before Collingwood sealed the victory with a pair of empty-net goals.
Douglas Mitchell and Nolan Keeler scored for the Raiders, with Owen McNamara assisting on both goals.
Sunday in Wellington, the Raiders were held to just 16 shots on net and Owen Bruining had the lone Georgetown goal.
With the losses, Georgetown slipped to seventh place in the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s West Conference with a record of 14-10-5.
The Raiders’ next game is Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at the Mold-Masters SportsPlex against the first place Leamington Flyers.
