Georgetown’s Matthew Paiva has earned national recognition, being named to the USports men’s soccer all-rookie team.
Paiva started all 12 games for the McMaster Marauders and played a key role in the team holding its opponents to 1.25 goals per game. The first-year defender also contributed offensively with two goals, both game winners.
Paiva, who played for Humber College last season, also earned a spot on the Ontario University Athletics first all-star team.
McMaster went 8-2-2 to finish second in the OUA West Division. The Marauders reached the OUA semifinal before being edged by Ontario Tech in penalty kicks.
