Nolan Keeler, who scored in both Georgetown Raider games this weekend, avoids a pair of Stouffville opponents in Saturday's Ontario Junior Hockey League game.

Just when the Georgetown Raiders appeared to be mounting a comeback, the Milton Menace snuffed out their hopes of ending their losing skid.

Georgetown fell behind 4-0 in Sunday’s Ontario Junior Hockey League before striking for three goals in 11 minutes to pull within one.

Milton was not about to help their neighbours though, coming back with five unanswered goals in the third to turn it into a 9-3 blowout and extending the Raiders’ losing streak to a season-high nine games.

Nolan Keeler sparked the Raiders comeback midway through the second and Aiden Lee kept it rolling with a pair of goals, including a marker in the final minute of the period to pull Georgetown within one.

That momentum did not carry over into third as Milton scored twice in the first five minutes of the period.

The second-period outburst by the Raiders was a welcome sight for a team that has only scored more than three goals once during its February skid.

Saturday at home, the Raiders dropped a 6-1 decision to Stouffville with Keeler scoring the lone goal, his sixth in the past eight games.

The Raiders host Niagara Falls Saturday at Mold-Masters SportsPlex at 7:30 p.m. and then travel to Buffalo Sunday.
