Christine’s journey to Canada began as a refugee, fleeing East Germany after the war. Under the cover of night, she and her family made the dangerous trek to West Germany. They were nearly stopped by a border officer but were allowed to pass, a decision that ultimately led them to a new life.

On October 24, 1951, Christine, along with her husband Jonas and son Raymond, arrived in Canada. With very little English, she relied on her strong work ethic to build a life for herself and her family. She was unwavering in her dedication, never missing a day of work and often juggling multiple jobs. Christine worked tirelessly from the moment she arrived until the age of 80.

She was widely admired for her impeccable fashion sense, her attention to detail, her love of tradition, and her passion for travel. Christine cherished her children and grandchildren and deeply valued the many friendships she made along the way. Christine is survived by her children: Raymond Brakas (Susan), Juergen Partridge (Audrey), and Deborah MacDonald. Grandchildren: Tim Meta (Jackie), Ken Brakas (Brenda) David Brakas, Christopher Partridge (Sarah), Jillian Croft (Michael), Mathew Partridge (Susanne), Kathleen Lee (Dylan), Neil Partridge (Christina), Trystan Partridge, and Jeffrey MacDonald. Christine also enjoyed the company of her 14 great grandchildren. Courtney, Alex, Ben and Ewan, Rayna and Owen, Bonnie and Simon, Kieran and Sloane, Saffron, Maielle, Brooklyn and Joseph.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025  at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 14400 Argyll Rd, Georgetown. A luncheon will follow in the church reception hall.

Many thanks to the staff at the Avalon Care Centre in Orangeville for their dedicated service to the comfort and well-being of Christine and other residents. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you send donations to Family Transition Place.
