Halton Regional Police are investigating a break and enter at a Georgetown facility that once housed a global manufacturing company.

Police say sometime over the Jan. 28/29 weekend, an entry door was pried open at the Guelph Street building previously occupied by Cooper Standard, which supplied components for the automotive industry.

An unknown quantity of copper wire was taken, police said.

No suspect description is currently available.

Anyone with information can contact police at 905-825-4777 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or haltoncrimestoppers.ca.

Cooper Standard ceased operations in Georgetown in 2020 as part of its global restructuring.  A statement from the company at that time indicated the closure was “due to customer vehicle volume and mix dynamics around the world.”
