Halton Regional Police have arrested two suspects and laid multiple charges after the attempted theft of a vehicle in Georgetown early this morning.
Around 4:45 a.m. today (Nov. 7), officers responded to the area of Miller Drive and Eaton Street in Georgetown after receiving reports of a vehicle theft in progress.
Upon arrival, police say they observed the suspect vehicle - a Toyota Tundra pickup truck that had been reported stolen in Durham Region a few hours earlier - fleeing the area and a tire deflation device was successfully deployed.
“The vehicle continued to flee south on Ninth Line before coming to a stop at Steeles Avenue,” police said in a press release. “Two suspects attempted to flee on foot, but were quickly apprehended by HRPS officers.”
While the information supplied by police didn’t indicate the situation involved a collision, a photo taken by a local resident (above) shows that a pickup truck and a police cruiser were involved in a crash at Ninth Line and Steeles Avenue early this morning.
Police say ultimately, the Georgetown victim’s vehicle was not taken and there was no entry made to the home.
