John Mitchell's third period goal earned the Georgetown Raiders a 3-3 tie with the Oakville Blades in Friday's Ontario Junior Hockey League game.

John Mitchell scored with 5:19 remaining, capping a comeback from a 3-1 third-period deficit and earning the Georgetown Raiders a 3-3 tie with the Oakville Blades.

Raider goalie Michael Newlove made 37 saves in Friday’s Ontario Junior Hockey League game, including all seven shots he faced in overtime.

Oakville took a 2-1 lead with a powerplay goal in the final seconds of the second period and extended the lead two minutes into the third.

Aiden Lee would kickstart the Raider comeback with a goal at the 8:10 mark of the third and then Mitchell pulled Georgetown even with his first of the season.

James Wong had the other Raider goal, answering less than two minutes after Oakville opened the scoring in the second period.

Things did not go well for Georgetown at home Saturday. Buffalo scored goals 50 seconds apart late in the first period and doubled its lead to 4-0 in the second on its way to a 7-0 victory.

The Raiders play on the road Thursday in Caledon at the Mayfield Recreation Complex at 7:30 p.m. before returning home Saturday (Sept. 21) to play the Toronto Junior Canadiens at 5:30 p.m. at the Mold-Masters Sports Complex.
