Norval is in full nostalgia mode and the citizens of the hamlet are adding one more celebration of the past to the roster.

The alumni of the former Norval Public School is inviting others to enjoy a trip down memory lane with Hot Dog Day, set for this Saturday (Sept. 21) from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the St. Paul's Anglican Church grounds.

Those who attend can enjoy a hot dog and a drink for $5 while reminiscing about the good old school days in the hamlet.

“The ladies of the village or the mothers of the village would make the hot dogs. It was always remembered as a special time,” Norval Community Association head Kathy Gastle recalled. “We have new neighbours and this is an opportunity to get to know our community.”

This year’s Hot Dog Day is well-timed with the 150th birthday celebration of Lucy Maud Montgomery, the Anne of Green Gables author who called Norval home once upon a time.

The local community has several events lined up for the occasion at or in the vicinity of the village’s historic St. Paul’s Anglican Church and the neighbouring Parish Hall, home to the Norval Studios and Gallery.

“Our Norval Studios and Art Gallery will be open to visitors (on Hot Dog Day) so they can move back and forth, look at art, have a hot dog, meet people and hopefully have a good time,” Gastle said.
