Milton man critically injured in Hwy. 401 crash at Halton Hills border

OPP say rollover claimed the life of a Toronto woman

A young woman from Toronto has died and two young men from Milton were injured, one critically, in a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 401 along the Halton Hills border Friday evening.

Shortly after 9 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division (HSD), along with Peel Region Paramedic Services and Mississauga Fire Services were dispatched to a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 401 eastbound.

Police said the crash took place just west of Winston Churchill Boulevard near the Halton Hills/Mississauga border.

Upon arrival, officers found two people ejected from the vehicle, the OPP said in a news release.

One passenger, a 23-year-old female from Toronto, was transported to hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

A second passenger, a 21-year-old male from Milton, was taken to a trauma centre in critical condition.

The driver, an 18-year-old male from Milton, was sent to hospital with minor injuries, police said.

Traffic was diverted to Highway 407 while first responders processed the scene. The highway was fully reopened at 2:30 a.m.
